Senator Richard Blumenthal told a group of veterans that he served in Vietnam. It was 2008 – and he was running for Congress. There was just one problem: The Democrat who went on to become a senator never served in Vietnam.
The New York Times reported in 2010 that Mr. Blumenthal received at least five military deferments. While red-blooded American heroes gave their lives in the rice fields of Vietnam, Blumenthal got a degree from Harvard and moved to England.
The Times noted that it was not just a one-time mistake. Blumenthal either said or insinuated that he had served in Vietnam multiple times.
In 2008 he stood in front of the Veterans War Memorial in Connecticut and said he remembered the taunts, the insults and sometimes even the physical abuse.
It was all untrue. And not once did he bother to correct the record.
Stolen valor.
Sen. Blumenthal sits on the Senate Armed Forces Committee,. He had the audacity to say that Pete Hegseth lacks the qualifications to lead the Pentagon. A man who is a combat veteran — awarded two bronze stars. Volunteered for tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. And a coward in a suit – has the nerve to question Pete’s qualifications?
But there’s some good news, America. Pete is about to put an end to this nonsense.
The young men and women who are considering enlisting should know that Hegseth is going to restore duty and honor back to the Pentagon. And the parents of those young people should rest easy knowing that a red-blooded American patriot and a warrior is at the helm of the Defense Department.
