A number of New York City lawmakers are demanding that Whoopi Goldberg apologize after she defamed a beloved family bakery on ABC’s “The View.”
Goldberg accused Holtermann’s Bakery of refusing to bake birthday treats for her co-hosts on “The View,” citing her far-left political beliefs.
But it turns out that Whoopi told her audience a whopper. Watch my Newsmax commentary on the matter below:
The family-owned bakery has been in business for 145 years and is a local institution.
Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella said Goldberg had “besmirched and “defamed” the bakery by spreading lies to “suit their needs.”
“The reputation of Holtermann’s is impeccable,” he said at a press conference.
Owner Jill Holtermann told Entertainment Tonight that the issue with Whoopi’s order had nothing to do with politics. It turns out the bakery was dealing with mechanical problems – the boilers went out.
The good folks at Holtermann’s don’t deserve to be demeaned on national television. So, I recommend placing an order for some of their delicious baked goods! The only thing not on the menu – Whoopie Pie.
