The Senate voted largely along party lines to advance Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s nominee to serve as secretary of defense.

The vote 51-49 – sets the stage for a final confirmation vote on Friday. Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voted with Democrats.

Murkowski says Hegseth does not demonstrate that he is prepared to take on the role. Which is laughable because Hegseth is a decorated combat war veteran with two degrees from Ivy League schools. Murkowski got her job in the U.S. Senate because of her late father.

She also took issues with allegations of excessive drinking and sexual assault – allegations that Hegseth completely denied.

Collins says she had problems with Hegseth saying women should not serve in combat roles.

Senator Roger Wicker, the Republican from Mississippi, is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee – and he’s been guiding Hegseth through the process. He says there’s a chance more Republicans may ultimately oppose Hegseth’s nomination.

Wicker telling NBC News that Vice President JD Vance may need to stick around the Capitol in the event he needs to break a 50-50 tie.

President Trump won the popular vote and the electoral college vote. He entered office on Monday with a mandate from the American people.

I can’t tell you how many moms and dads have called my radio show concerned about sending their sons off to join a woke military. Or how many times lawmakers have told me that they have grave concerns about military preparedness.

Over the past four years Biden’s Pentagon turned our military into a social justice freak show – hosting workshops on pronoun usage – sailors posting TikTok videos on board warships – dancing around with feather boas. The greatest fighting force on the planet – turned into a social engineering petri dish.

I worked with Pete Hegseth for a number of years at another network. His wife was my executive producer. There’s no doubt Pete has made some pretty serious mistakes in his life – but that was a long time ago. In my experiences with Pete – I’ve known him to be a man who is serious about is relationship with God, his wife and his seven children. Pete is also a patriot and I have no doubt that he will make a great Secretary of Defense.

Donald Trump wants Pete Hegseth. And Donald Trump should get Pete Hegseth. It’s really that simple. It’s really that black and white. President Trump has earned that right. And any Republican senator who dares to defy the president’s wishes should face a fierce and immediate primary battle – and that includes both Murkowski and Collins.
