Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) was furious that 159 Democrats voted against the Laken Riley Act. Burchett told me there’s a simple solution for dealing with the illegal aliens who are committing heinous crimes on American soil.
The legislation, named after Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, cleared the House in a 264-159 vote, with 48 Democrats joining all Republicans in support. The Senate is expected to take up the legislation this week.
The bill would require law enforcement to detain any illegals arrested for theft. Riley’s killer, a Venezuelan, had been previously arrested for shoplifting in New York City. He was set free and later killed Riley.
“I’d say hang them,” he told me. “I’m not over-exaggerating how I feel about this situation. And somebody loses a precious daughter like that to me is beyond belief. I can’t even imagine. But I’m a dad and I can’t even imagine the loss. It’s just beyond belief. An American Congress, the Democrats just poured salt in those people’s wounds.” Watch the interview below:
