Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) tells me that Republicans are serious about efforts to eliminate some federal courts.

“Everything is on the table,” Jordan told me. “The disproportionate number of times against President Trump versus other president here in the modern era it it uh… so lopsided against President Trump which i think underscores the concern that we have and why were we’re proceeding the way we are.”

In recent days activist judges have used the federal courts to attempt to thwart President Trump’s America First agenda. Most notably, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg who tried to stop the president from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport dangerous Venezuelan gang members.

Speaker Mike Johnson strongly suggested action could be taken to stop the activist courts.

“We do have the authority over the federal courts, as you know. We can eliminate an entire district court. We have power of funding over the courts and all these other things,” Johnson told reporters on Tuesday. “But desperate times call for desperate measures, and Congress is going to act.”

Jordan told me to stay tuned.

“You need legislation to create courts and that’s how the process works under our constitutional system. That can in fact happen as the speaker indicated,” the congressman said. Listen to the full interview below:
