There are two more near misses to tell you about involving jetliners attempting to land and take off at American airports.
A Southwest Airlines pilot had to abort a landing when a private jet crossed his runway at Midway Airport in Chicago. And most recently, an American Airlines jet nearly collided with another plane at Reagan National Airport.
Democrats blame President Trump’s budget cuts – but the only cuts made at the FAA were in non-critical safety functions.
The concern is that far too many DEI hires have made the friendly skies very unsafe. Some airlines would rather hire beauty queens than able-bodied male pilots. And we all know how that’s going.
There are also significant worker shortages in air traffic control towers around the nation. CBS News reports less than 10 percent of airport terminal towers have enough controllers to meet safety standards.
I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be driving to my next vacation destination. They say that statistically speaking flying in a jetliner is much safer than driving on an interstate. And that may very well be true.
I don’t have to worry about getting stuck in the middle seat stuffed between a pair of 500-pound passengers. And I don’t have to worry about any mid-air collisions. Nor do I have to worry about the pilot parking my car in someone’s driveway upside down.
And the best part is that if I need a snack, I don’t have to wait for a bag of pretzels from the flight attendant. Instead, I can always pull off the interstate and grab some brisket at Buc-ee’s.
