A group of firefighters in Illinois are facing an investigation after they were photographed in a firehouse wearing Trump masks.
The city of Evanston confirmed the authenticity of a photograph circulating online that shows four Evanston firefighters wearing Trump masks on the job. The city is investigating whether the masks violated the city’s code of ethics.
“Although the City cannot comment on the specifics of this investigation, we remain dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity among all employees,” City Manager Cynthia Vargas told the Chicago Tribune. “We will continue to uphold our commitment to serving all community members fairly.”
The fire chief issued an apology to the city council — a governing body that appears to be filled with anti-Trumpers.
“This picture is extremely troubling and disappointing to see. While I cannot comment on specifics in an ongoing investigation, I’m thankful for the immediate response from the Fire Chief and City Manager and I’m confident in their work to make sure everyone feels safe when calling 911 when they need emergency services,” Mayor Daniel Biss told the newspaper.

The person responsible for posting the original image was clearly suffering from a case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
“After recent events both nationally and locally, I’ve decided it’s time to get involved politically,” the original poster said. “Evanston is a diverse community that welcomes everyone. Bigotry, hate, sexism, fascism, etc, have no place in our community, especially within our fire department, whose job it is to protect the community.”
Say what you will but I guarantee you all of those firefighters in the Trump mask could carry you out of a burning building. And they know how to use a fire hose.
