Jacob Chansley Released from Prison 14 Months Early After New Footage

Jacob Chansley, the “QAnon Shaman” labeled the “very image” of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot by a federal judge, has been released from prison.

Chanlsey, 35, was moved to a halfway house in Phoenix on Monday, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

This comes after new footage released to by public showed Chansley being “escorted” around the Capitol by police. It was aired by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who called the new video “exculpatory.”

Have Jan. 6 prisoners been unfairly treated?

He was sentenced to three years in prison in Nov. 2021 after pleading guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress.

“Mr. Chansley’s projected release date from custody is May 25, 2023, via First Step Act release,” Benjamin O’Cone, a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, told Law&Crime.

Albert S. Watkins, the attorney who handled Chansley’s plea and sentencing, told the DailyMail: “After serving eleven months in solitary prior to his sentence being imposed, and only 16 months of his sentence thereafter, it is appropriate this gentle and intelligent young man be permitted to move forward with the next stage of what undoubtedly will be a law abiding and enriching life.”
