DEVELOPING STORY: A Delta flight bound for Minneapolis aborted takeoff at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta due to engine trouble. Passengers used emergency sides to evacuate the jetliner.
“On takeoff, something went wrong and engine caught fire,” passenger Curtis James told CNN. “Had to emergency evacuate the plane.”
Video taken from the snowy runway also shows passengers stepping onto the wings of the plane. At least 200 people were on board. Four passengers reportedly suffered minor injuries. The injured were taken to a nearby concourse for treatment.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our people and customers, and we apologize to our customers for their experience. Our focus is to address their immediate needs and get them to their destinations safely,” a Delta Air Lines spokesperson told FOX 5.
Airport operations were delayed not only due to the plane incident but also a snow storm. Watch videos below.
