DEVELOPING: A Memphis Police officer has been critically injured and another individual died in a shooting near Clark Tower reportedly at the White Station Public Library. Poplar Avenue is blocked and there are multiple police cars on the scene. Memphis Police confirmed to KWAM that the officer is in extremely critical condition and was rushed to Regional One Hospital. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Police tell KWAM there is no active shooter.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation “(TBI) special agents have been requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting in the 5100 block of Poplar Ave. in Memphis,” at the request of Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy.

National radio host Todd Starnes reacted to the news on Twitter:

Update: the individual involved in this incident was not transported to the hospital. The individual was pronounced deceased on the scene. The officer involved remains in extremely critical condition. Both involved were found to have been shot.
