Speaker Mike Johnson has betrayed Republican voters.

The speaker dropped a monstrous spending bill in the dark of night. It’s more than 1,500 pages long and there’s no way anyone will be able to read the bill before they cast a vote on the bill.

“By doing this, we are clearing the decks, and we are setting up for Trump to come in roaring back with the America First agenda,” Johnson told Fox & Friends.

Johnson’s new spending bill allows vaccine and mask mandates, vaccine passports, expanded emergency powers, and gain-of-function research.

Elon Musk, the co-leader of President-elect Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, was disgusted by Speaker Johnson’s decision to work with Democrats.

“Ever see a bigger piece of pork,” Musk wrote on X. ” This bill should not pass.”

Sean Davis, the co-founder of the Federalist said “Mike Johnson went from promising to never pass another omnibus to becoming the handmaiden of one of the most obscene lame duck omnibus spending bills in history. All this guy does is make promises he refuses to keep.”

It’s yet another case of “you’ve gotta pass the bill to know what’s in the bill.” Even Jake Sherman, from Punchbowl News, was stunned by Johnson’s betrayal.

Speaker Johnson had two basic choices going into the funding fight. A slim CR, that would extend funding until March, w disaster funding. Or a clear-the-decks omni that gave Washington breathing room until Sept 25. Johnson chose a middle ground, loading up a 84-day CR with a pile of unrelated policies, a bonanza for Democrats with very little to show for Republicans. Just an amazingly huge bill. Everything from health care policy to financial services policy to consumer policy. This is how biz in D.C. is done. Make no mistake. But this is not how Johnson said he would legislate. This was a leadership driven bill, jammed up against christmas that has the conference up in arms. Can they get 2/3 on the floor? Maybe. I don’t know. We’ll see. this will be an incredibly difficult whip job for Emmer and Reschenthaler.

The issue I have is that Speaker Johnson promised to put a stop to this sort of nonsense. It’s the way John Boehner and Paul Ryan governed. And it’s the one of the main reasons why Kevin McCarthy was removed from his speakership.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a man of deep and abiding faith in God. He’s used his speakership as a platform to advance his faith – routinely praying, reading Bible verses, and lecturing lawmakers about their morality.

So, it pains me to say that Speaker Johnson has governed contrary to the teachings of his faith. He lied to the American people. And for that reason, he must be replaced in January.

GOP Rep. Eric Burlison speaks out against the continuing resolution making its way through Congress to continue spending without passing a budget.

“It’s a total dumpster fire. I think it’s garbage… Sadly this is happening again. It’s shameful that people that celebrate DOGE coming in and yet we’re going to vote for another billion dollars to be added to the deficit. It’s ironic,” he said.

The continuing resolution, or CR, would extend federal funding until March 14. Without new legislation, government agencies will shut down at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard right now and urge your elected leaders to vote down Speaker Johnson’s CR. The number is (202) 224-3121.
