Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend President-elect Trump’s second inauguration.
“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” said a statement from the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama that was shared with The Associated Press.
President Joe Biden and Mrs. Dr. First Lady Jill will be there. Former President George W. Bush and Mrs. Bush will be in attendance. So will Bill and Hillary.
Michelle Obama was also AWOL during the state funeral for Jimmy Carter last week in Washington. She was the only living First Lady not in attendance.

Her spokespeople said she was in Hawaii and did not want to interrupt her vacation to pay respects to the former president.
Needless to say – the chattering class is chattering – wondering if we are really getting the full story. Are she and Barack having marital problems? Did she have a long-standing appointment to get her hair done?
“There’s no overstating her feelings about [Trump]. She’s not one to plaster on a pleasant face and pretend for protocol’s sake,” a source close to the former first lady told People Magazine. “Michelle doesn’t do anything because it’s expected or it’s protocol or it’s tradition.”
“She served in the public eye and did all the public good that she could for eight years as first lady,” the source said of Obama fulfilling her duties at Trump’s 2017 inauguration. “You’ll see her when she has a project or cause to promote but she doesn’t feel the need to be a public figure anymore.”
In other words, Mrs. Obama may be suffering from a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In 2023 she revealed to her podcast audience that she cried for a half hour after Trump was inaugurated in 2016. She admitted she was not in a good mood during the ceremony. Maybe she’ll be commemorating President Trump’s big day with Kamala – and a bottle of Josh.
