The Arkansas native was asked about his thoughts about Russia’s war against Ukraine before UFC 272 in Las Vegas.
“Here’s my first thought is I’m not going nowhere to fight none of these wars for these politicians,” Mitchell said. “I’m staying at home and when the war comes to Arkansas, I will dig my boots in the ground and I will die for everything I love and I will not retreat.”
He said he would fight for the land and people he loves, “but I’m not going overseas to fight.”
He took a swing at the Biden administration for its handling.
“I don’t think nobody knows what’s going on fully. There’s been so much political corruption in that area. You got Biden and his son making a sh-t ton of money off of and using our tax dollars to bribe their people. That’s treasonous in my opinion,” he said.
“We got veterans out here sleeping on the street and you’re going to give our frickin tax dollars to these Ukrainians. Brother, I don’t know what’s going on over there but I’m not going over there and fighting,” he concluded, “and God bless anybody that’s over there fighting and I hope that this sh*t just gets solved.”

Imagine if there was a group of people who would objectively investigate what’s going on in Ukraine and accurately report what US interests there are, if any. We could call them the “press.”

After his victorious fight, Mitchell vowed to donate his winnings to children in his home state in need of medical help.
“Half of my fight purse, $45,000, is going to Arkansas children with medical conditions who have no hope,” he said. “We will be their hope! In the name of God, these children will be healed.”
