A viral video shows Yale University’s Pediatric Gender Program Director boasting about treating children as young as 3 years old with medical intervention on their “gender journey.”

The video features Dr. Christy Olezeski explaining that the program exists to support “gender-expansive individuals 3 to 25 and their families,” while aiming to “help individuals who are questioning their gender identity or who identify as transgender or non-binary.”

She continued, “We help them with their gender journey, thinking through that, thinking through the risks of medical intervention, starting medical intervention, and also building supports around them.”
After touting that she leads a program that will medically “intervene” in the case of a 3-year-old who is “gender expansive,” Olezeski told the video’s audience that she loves her job.

“I love what I do,” Olezeski said while smiling at the camera. “So it’s really, really wonderful to be working with individuals are are gender diverse… and helping them on their gender journeys.”

The video was originally posted on Yale Medicine’s Youtube channel but went viral after being shared by the account “Libs of TikTok.”
In addition to garnering negative attention on social media, the video received backlash from students at Yale.

“My concern with all of that is, what does she really mean by ‘treating’? If you mean helping people with gender dysphoria, I think that is a noble thing…but are you helping them I think is the real question,” Yale student Zachary Thibodeaux told Campus Reform.
He added that psychiatrists need to consider the long-term effects of treating children with gender therapy.
Another student, who remained anonymous, said they were “abhorred and disgusted” by the video and program.
The video has now been taken down from Yale Medicine’s Youtube page.
