Former Marine Lt. Col. Stu Scheller was court-martialed, imprisoned, and received a general discharge for criticizing the Biden administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal. He told Newsmax Wednesday he plans to run for office.
Scheller said he is a “conservative” who wants to run in 2024 from his home in North Carolina.
“Through my ordeal, I felt the leadership in Congress was lacking and so I believe in uniting America,” Scheller told “Wake Up America,” adding, “so really apolitically, I’m looking for leaders who can go up there and do the tough things.”
Since his discharge, Scheller has recruited a long list of candidates for office through VoteforVets.org, including five Senate candidates and 20 congressional candidates, the majority of whom are veterans.
