President Trump revealed for the first time that he does not believe President Joe Biden will be able to finish the 2024 presidential race.
“I personally don’t think he makes it,” Trump told a crowd in Davenport, Iowa during a Fox News Channel town hall broadcast. “He’s in bad shape physically.”
The comments came after Biden stunned advisors and his campaign staff by suggesting he might not run if Trump decides to pull out of the race.
“If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running,” he said, saying Democrats “cannot let him win.”
The comment, made during a fundraiser at a private home outside Boston, offered perhaps the starkest rationale to date for Biden’s reelection decision-making, and, according to sources familiar with the matter, took senior Biden campaign officials and advisers by surprise, CNN reported.
