New evidence suggests COVID-19 originated from the lab in Wuhan, China, according to a report released by Republican representatives.
Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX), the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the report Monday.
“I think they were involved in a cover-up. It’s the greatest cover-up in human history,” McCaul told Fox News.
“I think the Chinese Communist Party are very concerned about this report coming out, telling the truth, and it’s already been interpreted into Mandarin as well,” he added.
According to Reuters, the report cites “ample evidence” that Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) scientists — aided by U.S. experts and Chinese and U.S. government funds — were working to modify coronaviruses to infect humans and such manipulation could be hidden.
The report, done by House Foreign Affairs Committee staffers, calls for a bipartisan investigation into the origins of the virus that has killed millions and devastated economies.
