Elon Musk made shockwaves on his newly owned platform, Twitter, this morning when he told his followers to vote for a “Republican Congress” Tuesday.
“To independent-minded voters,” he wrote. “Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.”

Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.
Then in a second tweet, the billionaire added, “Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!”

The Left freaked out:
Hey Elon, go fuck yourself. https://t.co/XHNl3hm2T6

Appears that Elon Musk bought Twitter to help the GOP win elections. Given his deal was funded by banks from foreign nations, the purchase of Twitter was simply a vessel for foreign nations to influence our elections. Need to DOJ to investigate! #LockElonUp https://t.co/WVbOpiRyy5

this may seem like another brain fart from the dumbest man alive but it's actually pretty instructive. plutocrats want a deadlocked, ineffective government. their goal is to strip public power (away from elections, unions, mutual aid) to create more room for corporate power. https://t.co/EAtk90t57o

A South African-born billionaire who just bought Twitter is using his $44 billion platform to tell his 115 million followers to vote for a U.S. political party that is led by a man who incited a violent insurrection and won't accept the outcome of the 2020 election. https://t.co/uzjQSvvicC

To independent-minded voters: Don’t just listen to what one person says, that’s not very independent-minded.

Vote for the party that will preserve democracy and isn’t steeped in election denialism and the desire to control our bodily autonomy. Vote for a Democratic Congress. https://t.co/chdL9JoZe9

A commitment to truth, decency, and the rule of law curbs the worst excesses of partisan zealotry and demagoguery. Therefore I generally recommend voting for Democrats, given that today's GOP is not committed to truth, decency, and the rule of law. https://t.co/h0ojSoM2KW
This seems *wildly* inappropriate. But at least the mask is fully off. https://t.co/24FmBb8ihG

This is an asinine political take that doesn’t reflect the current political climate or realities of the modern day Republican Party. https://t.co/tKJoYxAIa2
Beluga supports making forced birth the law of the land, taking books out of schools and putting guns in, gutting Social Security and Medicare, and substituting fascism for democracy. What did America do to South Africa to cause them to dump this piece of putrid trash on us? https://t.co/MEtvy0EGwz pic.twitter.com/AtQtvFcM2b

This is not Musk’s first time weighing in on politics. In addition to announcing his intentions to buy Twitter in a bid to promote free speech on the platform, Musk suggested that he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) if he ran for president in 2024.
Further, shortly after he took control of Twitter, Musk became engaged in a Twitter battle with leftist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
