An untold number of North Carolinians were arrested in Raleigh at a rally calling for the governor to reopen the state. Police accused the demonstrators of violating the governor’s emergency order.
CBS17 reports that protesters were holding signs that say, “Reopen NC” and “Freedom is not free.”
Police warned the law-abiding citizens they were about to be arrested.
“This large gathering is also a public health violation,” the police officer said.
“These officers are just doing their job and I’m just doing mine,” said one female demonstrator who was arrested.

There’s a demonstration going on right now outside the #NCGA in Raleigh. Some people are calling for businesses to be able to reopen. Some want a clearer timeline of when that can happen. Police are in the area @WNCN pic.twitter.com/ZYshvn7gUt
