The Baby Jesus has been booted from the lobby of the Walter Reed Medical Center.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation filed a complaint after the military installed a beautiful Nativity scene in the lobby of the hospital. Vote in my poll:
Mikey Weinstein, a notorious anti-Christian activist, claims that 41 patients and staff were triggered by the presence of Jesus Christ.
“I was astonished, and deeply disturbed, by this display and its implied endorsement of the Christian faith at a United States government facility,” one anonymous critic wrote to the MRFF. “This apparent violation of the Establishment Clause is particularly egregious during this time of rising Christian Nationalism.”
He fired off a nasty letter to the director of the military medical center alleging that the manger scene had caused issues with morale, discipline and unit cohesion.
“The in-your-face presence of this incontrovertible non-secular Christian nativity scene is causing egregiously deleterious impact to the good order, morale, discipline, unit cohesion and mission accomplishment of those both under your command at WRNMMC and those honorable military members and veterans who comprise your patient constituency,” Weinstein wrote.
He said the presence of Mary and Joseph was unconstitutional and illicit.
“We are standing by for your decision here to swiftly rectify this terribly unfortunate matter of unconstitutional, illicit Christian supremacy, dominance, exclusivity and exceptionalism,”
Within hours, military leaders had ordered that the Nativity scene be removed from the lobby. The large statues were piled onto a moving cart and dumped in the hospital’s chapel.
It’s unfortunate that the Pentagon surrendered to a bunch of anonymous Christ-hating bigots. But their days of power and influence in the pronoun-confused, woke Defense Department are numbered.
I predict that Pete Hegseth will have no problem telling Mr. Weinstein and his godless band of thugs to pound sand.
