It looks like the Freedom From Religion Foundation picked the wrong folks to bully.
The Wisconsin-based group of atheists, agnostics and free thinkers wants four crosses removed from the courthouse in San Jacinto County, Texas. Instead of capitulating – county leaders decided to fight back.
Some 700 people turned out for a meeting to defend the crosses and send a message to the people they call Wisconsin Whiners, Breitbart News reports.
“The devil is alive” and “political correctness is a one-way ticket to Hell,” resident Cloresa Porter warned.
Breitbart also reports Preacher Terry Holcomb got the crowd on their feet when he delivered a message to the Freedom From Religion Foundation — telling them to: “Go suck a tailpipe.”
Dwayne Wright, chairman of the local Republican Party, was a guest on the Todd Starnes Radio Show. He said he hopes the town sends a message to the rest of the country.
“Even a small, tiny speck of a community – when you come together and you share conservative principles – you can push back against any of these anti-religious groups. We don’t need freedom from religion. We need freedom of religion.”
He agreed with my assessment that it was a battle between David and Goliath.
“We absolutely identify with David’s plight and we’re willing to toss that rock,” Mr. Wright said.
