A Minnesota school district has banned pastors from attending Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings.

Pequot Lakes Public Schools says non-school adults may not attend FCA meetings on a regular basis. They also said all clubs must be student-led and all meetings must be led by students.

No ministers allowed.

The new rule was issued after the Freedom From Religion Foundation filed a formal complaint – accusing a local youth pastor of proselytizing at the middle school FCA meetings.

They accused the middle school of using FCA meetings as a recruiting ground for a religious mission. They further contended that the youth pastor broke the Equal Access Act.

“Schools cannot constitutionally allow religious organizations to treat schools as a recruiting ground for their religious mission,” FFRF’s Kyle Steinberg wrote to the district.

For the record there’s nothing unconstitutional about a Christian club inviting a Christian minister to speak to Christian students.

“A pastor or other evangelists may not be allowed unobstructed access to a captive audience of public school students,” FFRF’s Annie Laurie Gaylor states. “The district has made the right call to abide by the Constitution.”

If the atheists want equal access – they can start their own club. But let’s get serious – nobody wants to fellowship with a bunch of godless, heathen atheists.

And everybody knows the Christians serve better snacks.
