It seems like only yesterday that Carrie Underwood prayed for Jesus to take the wheel. But now staffers at American Idol are ready to kick Jesus out of the truck.

The Sun newspaper reports there is massive outrage among staffers on the popular television show after Underwood pushed a faith-based episode on Easter Sunday.

“It’s the first time they’ve done a faith-based episode and the crew was polarized by it,” a source told The Sun. “Some didn’t think it’s completely appropriate but felt uncomfortable speaking up about it while others saw no problem with it as it didn’t focus on a specific religion.”

Crew members literally suggested it was inappropriate for the American Idol finalists to sing about Jesus on Easter Sunday.

And they say her faith-based influence is ruining the legacy of the show.

The three-hour Easter episode marked the first time in 23 seasons that American Idol held an all-faith-based special.

Seems to me that American Idol would welcome the addition of a musical genre that is one of the most popular in the country.

And many of the show’s stars have gone on to become huge stars in the Christian music industry.

Underwood ended the Easter Sunday special by belting out a rendition of How Great Thou Art – which no doubt triggered the godless heathens on the American Idol crew. Watch her rendition below.
