The Biden administration announced it will deny funds for free lunches from schools that do not allow children to use the restroom they choose based on their gender identity.
As a result of an Executive Order signed by President Biden, the USDA announced it will withhold money from schools that do not adhere to Biden’s interpretation of Title IX, specifically allowing transgender boys into girl’s bathrooms and locker rooms, according to Townhall.

The USDA announcement said, “As a result, state and local agencies, program operators and sponsors that receive funds from the Food and Nutrition Service FNS…must also update their non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.”
Additionally, the policy will require schools to investigate any accusations of discrimination reported by LGBT students.
Major Republican politicians and activists are speaking out against this policy.
In a tweet on Sunday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) wrote, “In Florida, we are fighting against Biden’s intentionally destructive policies like denying school lunches for states that refuse to implement woke gender ideology in the schools.”

Fox News reported that executive director for Fight for Schools Ian Prior pointed out that this action, while justified in the name of equity, is going to harm low income and disadvantaged students the most.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) also spoke out on Twitter about the announcement.
“He’s threatening to use the national school lunch program to bully states into falling in line, and if we don’t, he’s going to take food off of our kids’ plates.”
She added, “If you act on this, Joe, we’ll see you in Court and we will win.”
