A Hawaii middle school is under fire after teachers created and then distributed election materials that were pro-Kamala Harris and anti-Donald Trump.
Teachers at Kapolei Middle School gave their students a two page document that was handed out to students in which stances of each presidential candidate are simplified. The handouts addressed six hot button issues, Hawaii News Now first reported.
“Very upset,” said parent Angel Morales. “I think teachers should do their job as teachers stick to education and not politics.”
On the issue of immigration, the pamphlet said that Harris was tough on the border and intended to hire more border patrol agents. Trump, on the other hand, was described as wanting to take children away from their parents.
The state Department of Education confirmed to the television station that the document was put together by a group of teachers at the school who simplified the information in a candidate comparison article in the New York Times.
