There’s big trouble brewing in Asheville, North Carolina – known as the Berkeley of the Southern states.
A school counselor is upset because children have been selecting a patriotic preferred pronoun. Instead of zi or zir the children are identifying as “USA.” The story was first reported by Libs of TikTok.
“As you may or may not be aware, there is a TikTok trend going around where kids are saying; ‘my pronouns are U.S.A.,” a concerned counselor in the Bumcombe County School District wrote.
I wonder how the teacher would feel about kids who identify as “bite/me”?
“It’s quite offensive to those who are non-binary and who do not identify with the typical ‘he/she,'” the counselor continued. “I’ve heard at least 10 students say this today. What can we do to address this?”
I’m rather surprised to hear of such intolerance in the public school system. The preferred pronoun crowd has been pretty insistent that we must accept the chosen identity of the children? If they identify as a pony or a potted plant, we’re supposed to humor the young people. So, if schoolchildren can declare themselves to be a fern, why can’t they identify as the greatest nation on the face of the Earth?
