A middle school choir teacher was hoping to score an invitation to President-elect Trump’s inauguration. So, she wrote a song called, “Trump It.” One of the lines: “Donald’s back! Oh, happy day!” Watch the performance below.
The kids at Northern Middle School in Kentucky sang the song and by all accounts it was a bonafide toe-tapper.
But Democrats and Never Trumpers said the tune was off key.
The school district said the song was inappropriate and that the teacher was overzealous. But they said her intentions were pure and bipartisan.
Back in 2016 the middle school choir snagged an invite to Trump’s inauguration. But they were rejected by Biden’s inaugural team in 2020.
The school district released a statement to television station WKYT:
The teacher was overzealous in her attempt to get President-Elect Trump’s attention with the song in question,” Trump It!”. The Northern Middle School Choir has performed for Both Governors Beshear, both are of the Democratic Party. In 2016, the middle school choir was asked to sing at the presidential inauguration for President Trump. She put in to go to the Biden inauguration but the choir did not get chosen. The teacher thought it would get President-Elect Trump’s attention because of its quirky little beat. The intent of the song was to get invited back to the upcoming presidential inauguration. The timing to introduce the song was not in good judgment considering that it was immediately following the election. The teacher has been addressed about the inappropriateness of the situation.
During the Obama Administration a number of schools across the country literally sang praise and worship songs about “Chicago Jesus.”
Those choir directors were celebrated by the national media – even though the kids looked liked they were forced to sing under duress.
The children in Kentucky seemed genuinely joyful to sing that “Donald is back! Oh, happy day!”
