Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told The Todd Starnes Show Wednesday that 8,000 illegal immigrants, including thousands of Haitians feeling the disaster-torn country, crossed into Texas from Del Rio Grande in one morning.
Of those immigrants, many have tested positive for COVID-19.
“It is horrific. It is a humanitarian disaster. It’s a public health disaster. It’s a national security disaster,” said the Texas senator.
The conservative lawmaker made a visit to the Southern border just weeks ago and found thousands of small children infected with COVID-19 crowded into “Biden cages,” small detention facilities in South Texas.
“The rate of COVID-positive at the Donna Texas facility was over 22%,” Cruz said. “And they are releasing COVID-positive illegal immigrants into South Texas and all over the country.”
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy pressed White House press secretary Jen Psaki why Americans are forced to show vaccine cards to get a job or eat at a restaurant but thousands of unvaccinated illegal immigrants are allowed to stream into the country. She refused to answer.
“Sadly, Todd, it’s all politics… and they’re just engaged in political warfare,” Cruz said. “Joe Biden can decide your healthcare for you, but at the same time… they don’t care if they’re releasing COVID-positive into our communities.”
He added: “It’s not about taking serious science-based steps to protect us. This is about protecting the political fortunes of Joe Biden and the Democrats.”
