The Biden administration announced the first-ever “female” four-star admiral of the U.S. Public Health Services (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. There’s just one problem: The new female admiral is not a biological female.
“The fact that he is making a big deal about this is more evidence in my view that President Biden is trying to co-opt the military and the respect people have for it to push his own agenda,” Travis Weber, Vice President for Policy and Government Affairs at Family Research Council (FRC), told ToddStarnes.com.
Rachel Levine, born Richard Levine, served as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health before being nominated Assistant Secretary of Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The 63-year-old Levine is the first openly transgender official confirmed by the United States Senate.
The USPHS Commissioned Corps includes 6,000 officers that serve vulnerable and underserved groups. The corps is not a military branch, but PennLive.com says it is one of eight uniformed services in the U.S. government and the only one focused on public health.
That’s a problem, says Dr. Michelle Cretella, executive director of the American College of Pediatricians.
“The American College of Pediatricians recognizes the importance of physical reality to the field of medicine and the importance of maintaining the true meaning of words for the governance of a just and civilized society,” says Cretella. “Calling and treating males as females (or vice versa) threatens the health of men and women.”
Cretella says it also threatens the safety and rights of women.
“Science has established that sex is a dimorphic, innate trait defined in relation to an organism’s biological role in reproduction,” says Cretella. “In humans, primary sex determination occurs at fertilization and is directed by a complement of sex-determining genes on the X and Y chromosomes.”
This genetic signature is present in every nucleated somatic cell and is not altered by drugs or surgical interventions.
“Sex differences arise from at least four different genetic mechanisms, in addition to the actions of sex hormones and environmental influences,” adds Cretella. “Consideration of these innate differences is critical to the practice of good medicine, and to the development of sound public policy for children and adults like.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) tweeted, “Upon being sworn in, Admiral Rachel Levine said, ‘I will follow the science.’ Maybe Rachel should start by recognizing that there are only 2 genders.”
Brigitte Gabriel of ACT for America tweeted, “Hearing the phrase ‘Admiral Rachel Levine’ makes me sick to my stomach. This country deserves so much better. Joe Biden has turned our country into the world’s punching bag.”
